CHAPTER ONE!
My Family
My family is the type that has all the rules you could remember in this world. Rules like;.
Don't go out without permission,
Don't leave the house in our absence, No late nights,
No movies during school sessions..... Don't this, No that and blah blah .
Sometimes, I'll think I'm in a cage not minding how big the house is. My friends would say; hey Dave, we'll love to come to your house. I'll reply, don't worry when the cage opens up (laughs). Don't say I'm complaining coz I'm not. I'm just telling you what's upπ.
Dad, sometimes I ask myself if he's really human. He always has a way of spoiling well set up plans. After setting out my target on how I will sneak out to play football with my friends one time, when my parents leave. The next thing I heard him tell my mom was; Darling, call me when you're done so I'll come pick you up, I'm staying at home. DAMN!
Mom, she's funny at times. When she gives you that eye, BOOM! All the secrets in your mouth will start spilling out. I don't know how she does that, but it works.
My siblings? Next tale to tell. Am the oldest and I'm fourteen. My younger ones, Mayalisa is twelve, while Suina, the last is eight. They have their own way of spoiling plans hiding under the umbrella of "Dave is the eldest, he made us do it". My parents never fail to succumb to their evil plansπ€¨ . Most times they'll bring up an idea (always contrary to the rules) telling me to do it. After all set and done, they'll report the matter and have me punished without trial. They have made me cry, lots of times to be frank. Let me give you one advice. Never, I mean NEVER tell your younger ones any secret of yours. Coz if you do, forget it, it'll be judged in the court of law. And funnily enough, you won't go scot free.
One day, they caught me sneaking inside my room after playing football with my friends. They made me go out again to buy chocolate ice creams for them (with my money π£). They didn't report the case, of course they knew they would be punished, that shut them up. At least I didn't get punished this time around. Thanks for the ice cream idea anyway.
CHAPTER TWO!
ADVENTURE
Our school goes for a trip every year. Unfortunately, I have never ever experienced it. I only hear from my friends and it can be so annoying because they never stop tauting me about it.
This year, my form teacher said it was a compulsory trip for everyone in my class. I laughed when she said that. I know my parents, they always have their way of thwarting every plans.
I told my teacher about my parents decisions and how I've never had the opportunity of going for any trip. Trust me, I really shed tears, though I was careful enough not to let my friends see me. If they do, I'll be the talk of the day.
I returned home from school one certain time. My parents summoned me to their mighty COURT OF JUSTICE. I was shivering seriously, trying to recall if I had done any mischief the previous days. Then my dad spoke up,
"Your teacher told me about the trip. Said something like it's compulsory and all those sorts of things. Well, I've discussed with your mom (I looked at my mom and she gave that mischievous smile) and we've agreed that you'll be going.
He paused and looked at me, maybe waiting for me to show any sign of over excitement. I know better than that, (any sign of over excitement might cause the cancellation of the trip. Take note). I still maintained my expressionless face. Then he continued,
"But your going is on one condition".
"Uh-oh", I thought -- there he goes again. Who says dad will ever give up on his funny attitudes. Gosh! let's see what the condition is. He continues....
"The condition is that you'll have to stick to your form teacher, she'll have to report to us at least every four hours and if I hear any strange news from her, we'll discuss that when you return".
"Wait! She agreed to that?
"Yeah or do you have a problem with that? Mom asked rather curiously.
"Oh no, I'm good, I'm good" I replied. Knowing fully well that I had the right to remain silent and anything I say will be used against me.
"Okay then, it's just two days from now. I've made the necessary payments. Discuss with your mom, she'll direct you on what next to do. We're done".
And that was it. When I got to my room, I carefully locked my door and climbed my bed. Then I saw myself jumping and jumping and jumping, I was so happy! But my joy was short-lived when I remembered the CONDITION.
"Dad can be so mean, anyway till I get there, we'll see how that goes".
For those two days, I was careful not to be a nuisance. I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me that every minute of my stay in that house counted a lot. I did all I was told to do swiftly and more than was asked of me. One could have passed me for a saintππ.
** ** ** **
On the day of my departure, I heard rules I never thought of in my life.
"....don't laugh too much or else you might get distracted"
Oh come on, are they kidding me! π² What the........ I choose not to complete that, who knows, I might end up saying that out loud and you know what that mean.
After all set and done, dad personally drove me to school. He met with my form teacher and, only God knows what they discussed. I made my dad farewell and gained my FREEDOM! Or that was what I thought, till Mrs. Kent (my form teacher) showed me the real she-devil in her. Hint: don't trust anyone.
She made me follow her wherever she went, was I her disciple? I felt that that was a new era of slavery. I got so tired and regretted ever coming.
We got to our camping ground few hours later. She gave me a SPECIAL place (I felt like crying). The building was so magnificent and beautiful. How would I explore this wonderful site under the nose of Mrs. Kent. I'll have to device a plan.
Every one moved into the rooms assigned to them, while I moved into my SPECIAL room. I didn't bother arranging my things, I just dropped them that way. I got ready for the day's event. Due to the fact that we arrived late, we were just allowed to explore our environment, the building and nothing more, then go back to have our rest.
Today, we were to visit the museum. Every teacher had their specific task assigned to them by the principal. Fortunately, Mrs. Kent was assigned the previous day. Are you thinking what I'm thinking.
I was following her wherever she went till I got so fed up and had to act so fast before our journey begin.
"Mrs. Kent"
"David, what is it?
"I wanna pee, please ma'am". The look on my face face showed I was really uneasy, trust me on acting. Ha! If adults knew our tricks sometimes.
"Okay then, just five minutes"
"Alright ma'am". And that was the last time she saw me till the day we were to return home. Don't ask me how I did it.
Mrs. Kent could only spot me from afar, but couldn't get a hold of me. My friends had already arranged things for me and it worked just fine.
I played and played and played, but I never got tired. The trip was so amazing, I wished I could stay for a year more. At least without all those rules you know.
I made sure I explored every nook and cranny of every places we visited. I didn't forget to take pictures. The sites were amazing. I made videos with my friends and it was a wonderful memory.
One time like that, I was taking pictures. I mistakenly hit a lady, she was too busy with her discussion and didn't look up, buh when I did I had to run for my life because it was MRS. KENT!
I made sure I took pictures and had great fun but always conscious of the fact that Mrs. Kent can be anywhere.
Today, we were to return home. That was when Mrs. Kent could get a hold of me. She just looked me around and left murmuring. Thank goodness she wasn't my mom.
The school bus dropped me in front of my house and I sauntered in. The house was locked (meaning no one was around), so I used my spare key. I got to my room, dropped my things and lay on my bed. My parents and siblings came back few hours later but I pretended I was still asleep. I heard mom say later,
"Darling, I think he's tired, we'll talk about that tomorrow".
My head spinned, no doubt, I'm in trouble. I sneaked out in the middle of the night to get something from the fridge, because I was so hungry.
The next morning, after saying my prayers, I went to the dinning room. Every one was sitted (except me), I greeted and joined them. In the course of the meal, dad said...
"Dave, we have a little discussion".
"I know" I said, though in my mind.
After breakfast, I went to the sitting room, otherwise known as the court room waiting for the BOMB BLAST! Dad spoke up,
"Mrs. Kent told us about the trip, how successful it went, how obedient you were, following her every order....."
Something is not right here, I thought. Dad must be up to something.
"You'll tell us more about your trip later, because right now, I'm so mad at you (he screamed).
I looked towards mom's direction, Mom's face was expressionless and I couldn't read her mind. I almost wet myself, then he dropped the BOMB!
"You're grounded, for two weeks!"
