JUST A CHANCE!

                  CHAPTER   SEVEN!
                SISTERS'  SYNDROME!










        Last week, I was grounded. This week I was careful not to start what I couldn't finish. Before I did anything, I would take the "rule book", scan it thoroughly to be very sure I'm not going off track.
        It was weekend, it was Saturday. The house was filled, everyone was complete. Like, everyone will make sure to trouble me! Big brother demerit.
After morning devotion, which lasted for two hours, mom shared the house chores. I and Maya was to clean the house, so we shared the rooms equally. Suina helped my mom in the kitchen, she virtually did nothing at all 😏.
        I went to my room and spent almost an hour. By the time I came down, Maya was through with her portion. When I inspected the cleaning, I realized I was in trouble 🤦‍♂️. Little wonder she didn't complain when I told her the rooms would be shared equally, she had her plan.
There were four rooms upstairs, mine, Maya's, Suina's and the visitor's room which we seldom clean, that's set aside. Downstairs was the parlour, the master's bedroom and the library. Guess what, she cleaned her room (quite alright), cleaned Suina's room and then the master's bedroom. My room clean or not isn't my problem, but gosh! The parlour is just so big and the dining isn't excluded. When I went to the library to inspect what I was about to clean, I realized my breakfast would be lunchfast😂. One of the rules, no breakfast before chores.
        I let my room be, so I cleaned the parlour first, arranged the throw pillows, and anything that needed to be arranged. By the time I was through with it, I was sweating profusely!
I went to the library. It was just looking like what someone had purposely scattered. Some on the table, the ones on the shelf were nothing to write home about. I sat on one of the chairs and......
      I woke up few minutes later and realized I had dozed off. Hope mom and dad hadn't seen me, that would be a story headline!
I started my cleanup, mopped the floor first before arranging the books. Upon arrangement, I noticed that some books weren't in their right shelf, since all the books were supposed to be arranged in alphabetical order. I sat on one of the chairs and travelled to Dreamland!
       The next time I woke up, I made up my mind never to doze off again. I continued my cleanup faithfully. Finally, I was through. I sat on one of the chairs and you know the rest!
      I woke up couple minutes later and headed to my room. I had my bath, got dressed and checked the time. Behold! It was past 4pm. Goodness me!
I went downstairs, straight to the kitchen, no diversion 😁. I opened the pot and it was well garnished spaghetti - my favorite 😉.
I spooned, dished, scooped and did all the transferable. I checked for my breakfast and it was still there, toasted bread with peanut butter and fried eggs. I set them on the table and I dived the food, taking on it step by step. Not even the president could stop me this time with -no eggs, no toasted bread 😂. After eating, I diluted it with a pack of pineapple juice. I washed the dishes and kept them on their respective racks.

      I went to Maya's room and decided to have a little chat with her. Hey! I and Maya can be real big enemies sometimes, but she's my best sister, I don't joke with her.
         "Maya dear" I called as I entered her room.
She looked at me like she was seeing a ghost. I had to look behind me to be sure nothing had been following me, so I can as well run for my life.
          "Big brother Dave, hello"
She only call me that on two occasions, first - when she needs a favour and secondly, when she's making mockery of me. Right now, I'm yet to figure out which.
           "What are you doing? I asked
           "I'm watching an Acapella video"
           "Oh, I see. Can I join you?
She gave me that funny look again.
            "Oh, alright, I'm off".
I left her room and headed to mine. I sat on my bed and decided to use my laptop to watch a movie. I love cartoons alot, I really don't know why, but I watch it alot. I put one of my favorite cartoon channel - Disney, and settled down.
Few minutes later, I heard a knock.
          "Come in, the door's unlocked"
          "Hi biggy bro".
That was my baby Suina, the secret revealer😃. She pronounced the biggy bro like it's a single word "bigibrow" with the attached W she got from who knows where.
          "Baby S, you wanna see me? Or do you need anything?
          "I'm not a baby, I'm a big girl now"
She hates it when I call her that, but I never stop teasing her with it anyway.
          "Oh really, why do you think so? I asked teasingly.
          "That's because I don't talk like one, I don't sleep like one, I just don't behave like one, can't you see" she said trying to prove herself.  Please, can I join you, I know you're watching a cartoon" she said smiling angelically.

Such angelic smile melts the soul, you couldn't just reject such offer and I definitely didn't too.
           "Well, alright. But on one condition...."
Before I could state my condition, she was on my bed already, smiling sheepishly. I just had to swallow my words and let it digest with my saliva. We were watching peaceably till she screamed, gosh!
          "Yeessss, you're going closer, the crown is yours... Oh the Titans are coming, run...."
That freaked me out, though I was used to it.
          "Suina, please stop it already" I pleaded.
She wasn't listening, she was so absorbed with what she was watching and saying. Then I figured just what would make her stop.
           "Baby S, baby S, aren't you being a baby now?
That was it, she stopped immediately. I smiled and continued undisturbed. Some minutes later, Maya knocked and came in. I paused the movie to listen to the old fairy tale she was about to tell.
          "Em, please, can I join you guys? She said trying to use her innocent face magic on me.
            "Maya, you know that doesn't work on me at all. Go back to your room and enjoy it so well, okay"
          "Please, please, please, I promise I won't disturb anyone".
She was really sincere I could tell.
           "No" I replied bluntly.
I knew it wouldn't last for long but I just wanted to prove stubborn at least to her, for next time sake. Suina joined in the pleas, that spoilt it all.
          "Biggy bro, won't it be fun if three of us watch together? It's more like family isn't it? And mom would be so pleased with you as well as dad. Please forgive her, I know she can be annoying at times, please allow us to watch with you, please"
I'm still trying to know who taught her  how to change people's mind so easily, because I really need that trick on dad and mom. I had no choice than to let her join us. They were really happy and I felt this kind of joy in my heart. We sat together and watched.
Before the movie ended, we were sleeping peacefully 😂😂.
