JUST A CHANCE!

                CHAPTER  EIGHT!
                   REAL SHOCK!




           After breakfast this morning, I washed the dishes. We were on holiday so everyone would be at home except my parents. Before they left for work, I told them that I would be going to the basketball court to play with my friends.
          "Dad, Mom, there's a basketball game today and I would be going to the court" I said with all boldness.
          "What time will the game start? Dad asked.
           "By 10am"
           "Okay, but don't stay out for long"
           "Yes dad" I replied smiling sheepishly.
           "But before you leave, make sure you complete your chores because I won't tolerate any excuse if you forget it" Mom added.
Trust mom on that. She can never forget it at all no matter what.
          "Understood ma" I responded
As I said that, I ran to complete my share of the tasks. I was whistling happily like a bird that has been fred from it's cage. One would think I had won a lottery. But trust me, this was better than winning a lottery. Do you know what it means for my parents to just agree with what I had just told them and without a fuse? It's a miracle!
My parents left the house later on, leaving me with my siblings.
        "Dave, Dad and Mom agreed that you should go? Maya asked in a surprised tone.
        "Yeah, it's unbelievable right? I replied
        "My parents always put up a show you know, always expect the unexpected from them" Suina added .
       "Gosh, I can't believe it. You told them today and they just concurred, mmmm something is not right here" Maya said thinking of who knows what.

I didn't care about that at all.  I was too happy to think of anything heartbreaking at that moment. I quickly went to my room and had my bath. Few minutes later, I was dressed on my beautiful and brand new jersey, with "Dave 5"  boldly written behind it.
I told my siblings that I  was leaving and off I went. It didn't take much time and I found myself in front of the ball court. I smiled as I entered, walking majestically. My friends were so happy to see me and at the same time surprised. They all gathered round me while I was busy feeling like a celebrity 😂.
The game started later on. It was a tough one for me due to long time practice and changed players on the other team. I was a real good player so I was able to put up to expectations. The first half ended with a draw. It freaked me out because no team had ever won my team, though I was comforted with the fact that there was no winner yet.
During the break before the second half, I was with Teny. He was in my team too, we couldn't part ways you know.
         " Dave, what trick did you play on your parents this time around?
        "Oh come on man, I didn't do anything at all. I just told them today and they agreed. Does that make me trickster?
       "Wow, that's quite unbelievable! Teny exclaimed.
      "Yeah, you're right. But that's not my problem now okay. Let's play this game and come out a winner. Come on"

The second half started and it was a real big task. Fortunately, I was able to dribble past my opponent and found myself up on the net as the ball slide through. We ended up having one goal and being the winner!
        After the game, my team decided to hang out in any eatery we find. It was awesome for me, I was just taking pictures and videos. Do you remember the joy you have when ever you win, most especially when you're the reason your team is called the winning team. Gosh! I was so full of myself.  We took a taxi to one of the famous eatery in the city. I was glad it was a team something, at least Dad won't bite my ear off when he finds out.
We ordered for spiced chicken and chips with any drink of our choice. I was so happy and what added to my joy was the fact that Teny was with me. That guy's a real friend!  Surprisingly, I didn't eat, busy taking videos of every single event. Unfortunately I wasn't able to eat, I had to package mine when we were leaving.

         Next, we went to a video game shop. We paid the owner and took our positions, pairing with whoever we wanted. I paired with Teny! That was the worst pair ever. How can two best friends and two best players and two tactics owners pair? That was war! The game ended without a winner from our side🤣 .
          Next we went to a studio and decided to drop our team song. We discussed with the owner and after some negotiations, we came to a concrete conclusion. Our voice was terrible on the first trial. I laughed my bowels out after listening to the song. We had to do a little more practice to make it a bit lit.
          We left the studio about an hour later and when I checked the time it was past 3pm. We decided to assemble at the basketball court before dispersing to our various homes. We got their some minutes later.
While having a little meeting, I decided to try a little playing all by myself. On the process I fell and lost consciousness.

           I woke up later on and found myself on my bed, someone dragging my feet and asking me to wake up. I tried to understand the environment I saw myself, comparing it with the one I saw myself last and they weren't just matching.
I closed my eyes and tried to meditate. I opened it few minutes later and realized it was Suina on my leg.
           "Dave, wake up. It's night already. Dinner's ready too"

          That was when it got registered in my brain. It had all been a dream! I had slept off while watching the movie with my sisters. Gosh! It looked so real and I had enjoyed myself, it was unbelievable! I wished I was dreaming now and the other was real.
Nature always has it's own way on playing  tricks on someone, most especially when the person is yearning for something that looks impossible. Dream gives you freely and happily, just that you'll only wake to find out the truth thereafter and wish you had never woken.
This was a shock I could never forget!
